Mato Homola to start TCR Europe 2020 with BRC Racing Team

BRC Racing Team unveils its definitive lineup with the announcement of Mato Homola’s participation in the upcoming TCR Europe season.
The team is ready to face the European series challenge together with the young Slovakian driver that will compete with a Hyundai i30 N TCR.

Mato, born 1994, started his career at a very young age, and conquered the Central European Circuit Trophy at the age of 17. After a few season in FIA ETCC and a couple of races in WTCC, in 2016 he begins his career with TCR cars. In 2018 he participated in the FIA WTCR scoring a victory in the technical city circuit of Vila Real during the Race of Portugal weekend. His debut in TCR Europe with the Hyundai i30 N TCR dates back to last season, where he was nominated Hyundai Slovakia official ambassador, a partnership that will stand also for 2020 season.

Gabriele Rizzo, BRC Racing Team Principal, declares: “We met with Mato as competitors in WTCR 2018 and we had our first happy collaboration at last year’s FIA MotorSport Games. Having him in our team that will participate in TCR Europe is great news. Our team is thus able to enter two cars also in Europe, both run by high level drivers. We are very satisfied and can’t wait to start”.

Mato Homola comments: “I’m extremely delighted to say that I’ll be joining forces with BRC Racing Team for 2020 season in TCR Europe. It was the inaugural FIA Motorsport Games at the end of 2019 that we worked together for the first time and I knew right away that this is the team for me. People in the team had a professional approach and they have a lot of experience, so I felt in good care and that is why I chose BRC for 2020 season. My racing skills, BRC team and together with the best TCR car, Hyundai i30 N TCR, can be in my eyes a winning combination. Frankly, I have no other goal than to win TCR Europe 2020 title, so I am super motivated. And I believe with BRC Racing Team we will fight hard to achieve it”.
Mato Homola announced his participation in TCR Europe this morning with a live press conference on his social channels.

About TCR Europe
The TCR Europe Series is one of the many manifestations of the TCR concept. Launched in 2015, this new racing category for 2-litre turbocharged Touring Cars has quickly spread around the world, reshaping the competition for production cars on a global scale.
During the first three years of activity, the peak of TCR racing was the TCR International Series that accomplished its task of serving as a showcase to promote the category and attract car manufacturers and engineering companies willing to develop their own profitable customer racing activity.
In 2017, a TCR Europe Trophy was organised as a one-off event at Adria International Raceway, Italy.
From 2018, with the dismissal of the International Series to make room for the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup, the FIA Europe Series was launched and placed itself as an intermediate step of the TCR pyramid, between the WTCR and the regional and national campionships.
Nowadays, nearly 900 TCR cars are currently racing in more than thirty international, regional and national championships that have adopted the TCR Technical Regulations.
